Project Background
The Elders Wool Stores will be transformed into a thriving heritage precinct, after sitting inactive for several decades.
The iconic Elders Wool Stores has stood the test of time as it approaches 100-years since initial construction. Originally used for the booming Western Australian wool trade, the buildings have sat largely unused since the decline of the industry in the 1970’s.
Our vision is to bring life and vibrancy back to the area by connecting Elder Place to the West End heritage precinct. The focus is to conserve the heritage and artistic values of the area while seamlessly integrating the site with the surrounding urban fabric to create a strong sense of community between Fremantle city centre and the port.
Project Details
A sensitive interpretation and site-specific approach will be taken to revitalise this unique piece of our industrial history.
Hesperia has engaged award-winning heritage architects, Griffiths Architects, as specialist consultants on the project. Griffiths has an extensive track record in the Fremantle area and will provide heritage consultation, seeking adaptive opportunities to bring this project to life.
The design process is planned to commence in late 2022. Throughout this process our team will be engaging with the local community, businesses, and heritage specialists to share our design vision.
