Rivermark Achieves Gold Waterwise Development Recognition
May 17, 2022
Hesperia’s first master planned community, Rivermark has been recognised as one of Western Australia’s leading waterwise developments, earning a Gold Waterwise endorsement from the Water Corporation.
Rivermark was recognised for achieving great outcomes in water efficient design,
storm water management and reduction in potable water use.
As a Gold Waterwise Development, Rivermark demonstrates alignment to the Water Sensitive Cities Index framework, including:
• Governance and community capital
• Productivity, resilience and resource efficiency and;
• Ecological health and quality urban space.
Projects that receive this endorsement have demonstrated best-practice outcomes in sustainability and water-sensitive principles to help shape liveable communities.
The Water Corporation’s Waterwise Development Program was developed in partnership with the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) in 2014, after recognising the fundamental role developments have in transitioning Perth to a waterwise city.
Water Corporation Customer and Community General Manager Karen Willis congratulated participants in each non-residential waterwise program for their ongoing commitment to water efficiency.
“Every drop of water in Western Australia is precious and it’s up to us all to ensure we use water as efficiently as possible,” Ms Willis said.
“This is why we support and work with a range of non-residential organisations to help them understand their water use and take action to reduce their consumption.”
Hesperia Director Judd Dyer said this endorsement is an important verification of the sustainability initiatives at Rivermark.
“We are seeking to adopt international best practice across our projects and in our operations. This recognition gives us the confidence that we are on the right track and encourages us to explore new sustainability practices,” Judd said.
Thank you to the Water Corporation for recognition of the initiatives in place at Rivermark and to all of those involved in this project.
